The Negro Motorist Green Book, a new exhibition developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) in collaboration with award-winning author, photographer, and cultural documentarian, Candacy Taylor will be on display in Holocaust Museum Houston’s Josef and Edith Mincberg Gallery Sept. 1 through Nov. 26, 2023.
Six Scenes From Our Future Gives Radical Presentation of Art at CAMH
Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) is excited to announce its newest exhibition, Six Scenes From Our Future, which will be staged in celebration of the Museum’s 75th anniversary. Six Scenes From Our Future features the work of six artists responding to CAMH’s inaugural exhibition, This Is Contemporary Art (1948). The exhibition will include new commissions alongside existing works from Mel Chin, JooYoung Choi, Leslie Hewitt, Lisa Lapinski, Jill Magid, and Leslie Martinez.
Houston Women Shine at the 75th Tony Awards
Roshanda Jones-Koumba, theater director at G. W. Carver Magnet High School, received the 2022 Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre Education. The Award is presented by the Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University to honor. Educators who impact the lives of students. Roshanda Jones-Koumba states, “In theatre we accept all, so you’re not afraid to be yourself. And that gives you confidence to do anything you want, enables you to work with different people, and to be a better all-around person,” Jones-Koumba said. “Theatre is life. I’m very grateful to The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University for this honor.”

Vanessa Gilmore opens Tea with Judge V in King David Hotel in historic Riverside
Judge, author, and entrepreneur are some ways to describe Judge Gilmore. When she was sworn in as a federal judge in 1994, she was the youngest sitting federal judge in the nation. Now retired from the bench as a United States District Judge after 28 years of service, the is a sought-after speaker, a voice-over artist, and the author of four books. This month she adds entrepreneur to her resume with the opening of her new business venture, Tea with Judge V. It is set to open this month inside the Hotel King David, a unique boutique hotel, on the historic Riverside Drive in Houston, Texas.

Ain’t Too Proud the Life and Times of the Temptations
The Temptations stand as the foremost R&B group established by Motown and Berry Gordy. The original lineup included Otis Williams, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, and Melvin Franklin. Over time, the group has seen 27 members, with Jawan M. Jackson, known for portraying Melvin Franklin in the musical "Ain't Too Proud," now being part of The Temptations. Otis Williams continues to perform with the group.

You are Art A Love Letter to 5th Ward is a mixed media portrait-based project that seeks to highlight the individual residents of 5th Ward Houston. Fifth Ward is portrayed as more than just a geographic location; the residents are the most critical parts of the community; when these people move away or travel from their homes, the stories and experiences always keep the best interests of the physical place alive.
