HCDE Board Names First Public Recovery High School in County ‘Fortis Academy’
The name of the first public recovery high school in Harris County is officially “Fortis Academy” as the Harris County Department of Education Board of Trustees voted 5 to 1 in favor of the school’s naming at its Aug. 16 meeting.

Governor Abbott Appoints Nober And Prodan To The Texas Holocaust And Genocide Commission
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Roger Nober and Virginia Prodan to the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission for a terms set to expire on February 1, 2021. The commission ensures that resources are available to students, educators, and the general public regarding the Holocaust and other genocides, as well as compile lists of volunteers, survivors, liberators, scholars, and members of the clergy for educational program opportunities. The commission also coordinates events around the state.
