I was proud to present a proclamation to the Texas Association of African American Chamber of Commerce (TAAACC) naming March 31, 2017 as Black Business Day at the Capitol. I gave remarks about the bills that I filed to strengthen the HUB program - Historically Underutilized Businesses. Today we celebrate the 250,000+ Black Businesses owners across the state at the Texas Capitol.

Grant Applications Now Open for Local Artists and Cultural Nonprofits In Need of Disaster Relief from Harvey Arts Recovery Fund

the Harvey Arts Recovery Fund (HARF), which supports Houston artists, performers, musicians and arts and culture organizations in need of disaster assistance. The second round of grant awards will be distributed this spring and the application is open from Feb. 15 to March 1, 2018 at www.harveyartsrecovery.org. In January, HARF awarded more than $40,000 to local artists and arts, heritage and cultural organizations who suffered personal and professional losses due to Hurricane Harvey.
