The Houston Public Library (HPL) is offering qualified library customers the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and credentialed career certificate through Career Online High School, a free program offered by Gale, a Cengage company. Part of the world’s first accredited, private online school district, Career Online High School is specifically designed to reengage adults into the education system and prepare them for entry into post-secondary career education or the workforce. This is not a GED program!

The Comcast RISE Investment Fund, will award $5 million dollars of grants to hundreds of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned, small businesses in five cities nationwide, including $1 million in Houston.

This weekend, the Houston- and Northwest-Arkansas-based marketing and public relations agency, Market Street Consultants (Market Street Consulting LLC) was recognized by the Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter (PRSA Houston) at its 37th annual Excalibur Awards for its team’s expertise and contributions to the public relations industry in the fourth-largest city in the United States. Market Street Consultants’ co-founder Juan Alanis was recognized as Public Relations Professional of the Year, while co-founder Anjelica Cazares received the award for Podcast of the Year.

Sumner Manufacturing, A Southwire Company, has partnered with Houston Community College to provide job training for 144 new and incumbent workers using a $208,493 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will benefit workers in the Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast area.
