The American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast region is helping more than 65 people recover after an apartment fire yesterday at the Stonehave Apartments near the Galleria. Mayor Sylvester Turner today signed a proclamation declaring a Local State of Disaster Due to a Public Health Emergency to help contain and mitigate COVID-19 from spreading. As a result of the emergency order, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo will close down immediately and city-sponsored, produced and permitted events will be postponed or cancelled through the end of March.
