Wells Fargo Foundation Donates $500k for Texas Winter Storm Disaster Relief
The devastating effects of several winter storms have left millions of Texans dealing with costly home damages and limited access to food and water. To help aid in relief efforts, the Wells Fargo Foundation will donate a total of $500,000 for response and recovery, including $50,000 to American Red Cross and $100,000 to Feeding America’s network of 21 food banks in the state. The remaining $350,000 will be used to support local nonprofit efforts, as well as aid with the recovery in communities of color, who have been disproportionately impacted during this crisis.

Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting At Car, Hitting 13-Month-Old In Atlanta
An Atlanta man has been arrested after allegedly shooting at a car that sideswiped his vehicle and injuring a 13-month-old sitting in the backseat. Atlanta police and the U.S. Marshals took Marcell Mayfield, 29, into custody in connection with the shooting, according to police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant. The shooting happened Oct. 6 in southwest Atlanta, Channel 2 Action News reported.

"Fort Bend Independent School District needs to restore community faith and stop disrespecting the community's desire for the Sugarland 95. All parties, including the community, thought the matter was settled when the school district publicly committed to transferring the property and the care of the Sugarland 95 to the County. A bipartisan Fort Bend delegation, which I was a part of, passed legislation enabling Fort Bend County to operate the cemetery House Bill 4179 was signed into law by the Governor. The school district has now reneged on this deal.
Construction Complete on the Greens Bayou Glen Forest and Kuykendahl Stormwater Detention Basins
The Harris County Flood Control District has completed construction of the Glen Forest and Kuykendahl Stormwater Detention Basins, located in Greens Bayou. The two stormwater detention basins were funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Hurricane Ike Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The Flood Control District matched the $39.2 million award, bringing the total cost of construction to $63.7 million.
