TIRR Memorial Hermann, City of Houston, METRO partner to provide free flu shots
TIRR Memorial Hermann, the City of Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities and the Metropolitan Transit Authority are partnering to provide free flu shots for METROLift riders and current or former patients of TIRR Memorial Hermann. The group is hoping to reach people with disabilities who may benefit from convenient access or need transportation assistance to get a flu shot.

This past Saturday, May 21, 2022, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Region 6 Regional Director, Sima Ladjevardian, and HHS’ The Partnership Center Director, Reverend Dr. Que English, convened with faith leaders for the Faith + Works Black Maternal Health Community Conversation and Call to Action at Texas Southern University. Participants included U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (TX- 18), Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis, maternal health experts, federal partners, and community members to identify ways the faith community can support moms experiencing maternal health challenges and change the tra- jectory of maternal mortality.

The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) has stepped up to support Nora's Home, Houston's haven for organ failure and transplant patients receiving care in the Texas Medical Center, by providing furniture, fixtures and equipment for its recently announced facility expansion. The expansion will double the existing lodging capacity to include 16 additional guest rooms, which will allow the home to provide an additional 10,800 lodging nights per year to organ transplant patients and their families.
