For Nilsson, her small-town roots formed a life-long appreciation for animals, kindness and a cup of Sonic ice. “The inspiration for the Loodor Tales book series began with my hometown and my 12-year-old nieces,” Nilsson explained. “As an aunt, my job has always been to listen. It’s sometimes easier to ask an outsider (non-parent) the big questions. For years, I’ve tried to share life lessons. My nieces were open to the content but not the context. They wanted the information to be presented differently. They needed it to be on their terms.”

Menefee is now accepting applications for the 2023 Summer Legal Academy (SLA), a two-week educational readiness program for high school students to learn more about what it takes to become an attorney.
