Houston Chamber Choir returns to Miller Outdoor Theatre after three-year absence with free concert “This Land Is Your Land” on Oct. 29
The Grammy® Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, led by Robert Simpson, is back at Miller Outdoor Theatre for the first time since 2019 presenting “This Land Is Your Land” as the second performance of its 2022-2023 season. The concert on Saturday, Oct. 29 is free and open to the public at Houston’s iconic outdoor performance space in Hermann Park. The Choir missed 2020 and 2021 Miller Outdoor Theatre performances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Governor Greg Abbott today held a press conference where he issued three new Executive Orders to begin the process of reopening the state of Texas while revising hospital capacity and certain social distancing guidelines. Within the orders, select activities and services that pose minimal to no threat of spreading COVID-19 are allowed to reopen using a "Retail-To-Go" model, certain restrictions on surgeries have been loosened, and schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Complaint Alleges Amazon Illegally Fired Drivers Based On Overly Stringent Background Checks
A group of six Black and Latino former Amazon drivers filed a class action lawsuit today in Suffolk Superior Court, charging that Amazon illegally discriminated against them and other similarly-situated drivers when it fired them in 2016. The complaint alleges that Amazon’s mass termination of predominantly minority drivers was based on an overly stringent background check policy that included old and minor offenses, and came months after the drivers were on the job and performing successfully.
