The Rose Hosts 4th Annual Ensemble Theatre Fundraiser to Decrease High Breast Cancer Death Rate of African American Women

On Sunday, October 8, 2017, The Rose bought “out the house” at the Ensemble Theater in Midtown Houston for an afternoon of entertainment, refreshments and great door prizes, plus a chance to impact the lives of African American women. The Reception started at 1:30 p.m., followed by an exclusive showing of Sassy Mamas, a romantic comedy about three women who confidently pursue their heart’s desires. This year, The Rose @ The Ensemble raised over $30,000 to fund 200 mammograms for patients of The Rose.

McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science announced today that it will temporarily close starting tomorrow, March 17, through Sunday, March 29, 2020, to support Houston and the nation’s effort to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). The Health Museum – located at 1515 Hermann Drive, Houston, Texas 77004 – reached this decision in an abundance of caution in response to the newly-updated guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other experts regarding gatherings of more than 50 people.

Harris Health Targets Homeless for COVID-19 Testing and Care

Homeless individuals are now being tested for the COVID-19 virus by Harris Health System through its Health Care for the Homeless Program thanks to nearly $1.3 million in federal grants awarded to Harris Health. In all, the program has already tested 125 people with the aim of testing and caring for up to 1,000 homeless individuals.
