Project focused on potential harm doers to stop violence before it happens awarded grant on behalf of the Mayor’s Office of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence

The Alliance was recently awarded $750,000 of grant funding from the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence (MOHTDV) to design, execute, and administer an evidence-based, preventive, domestic violence intervention program. The MOHTDV’s goal is to provide funding for projects that are innovative, culturally competent, and focused on intervening in communities of color and ethnic minorities when it comes to preventing domestic violence.

On behalf of the White family, the Office of Governor Greg Abbott today released funeral and memorial service details for former Governor Mark White. Funeral services will take place in Houston, TX at Second Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. On Thursday, August 10th, Governor White will be driven to Austin, TX where he will lay in state in the Capitol rotunda from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., after which he will be driven to the Texas State Cemetery to be laid to rest in a private ceremony for family.

Southwest Houston Church Offers Bags of Hope

With the U.S. unemployment rate at one of the highest in the nation’s history, more families are seeking help to meet those basic needs. Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church (located at 11539 S. HISD to receive $300,000 in support of its new recycling program

Houston Independent School District will be presented with checks totaling $300,000 in funding from business leaders to expand access to recycling within the district.
