The annual celebration of high school musical theatre in the Greater Houston area, the Tommy Tune Awards, is going online. In response to Harris County’s active stay-at-home order due to the coronavirus crisis, event organizer Theatre Under The Stars will live-stream the awards show on Tuesday, April 28 at 7:30PM CST on the Theatre Under The Stars Facebook page and YouTube Channel. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

The Texas A&M University System has announced Discovery Tower, Life Tower and Horizon Tower as the names of the three buildings that comprise Texas A&M Innovation Plaza, its landmark 5-acre campus in Houston, Texas, at the prominent intersection of Holcombe Boulevard and Main Street near the Texas Medical Center (TMC). This campus sets a new standard for collaboration in engineering, medicine, research and education and is the first all-new mixed-use campus for the Texas A&M System in Houston.

Houston Jazz Collective a Collaboration of Art and Music

Houston Jazz Collective is an organization that incorporates the genres of music and art featuring major talents to pay tribute to accomplished jazz musicians. Past events have included outstanding Houston-based jazz musicians such as Frank Lacy, Kirk Whalum, Billy Harper, Bob Dorough, and Chris Dave paying tribute to Arnet Cobb. In this year's events Shelly Carrol paying tribute to John Coltrane and supreme love. The Houston Jazz Collective combines performances with outreach programs “The Houston Center for After School Jazz Programs”. The program exposes youth to the arts through a jazz curriculum that educates giving them the understanding of jazz in the original form. Their vision is cultivating expanded minds as well as creating a lasting impression that will hopefully leave a beautiful culturally rich memory of jazz.
