City of Houston Planning Department Announces Multimodal Mobility Study for Southeast Houston
The City of Houston Planning Department announced today the development of a multimodal mobility study inclusive of vehicular, transit, pedestrian, bicycle and freight in the area bounded by Interstate 610 to the north, State Highway 288 to the west, Sam Houston Toll Road to the south, and Interstate 45 and Galveston Road to the east.

Additional Mission Modification for Mouth-Bar Requested
Council Member Dave Martin would like to make District E residents aware the Federal Emergency Management Administration's (FEMA) mission assignment modification to address partial removal of the mouth-bar has concluded. The mission assignment modification provided the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) authorization, acting at the direction of FEMA, to remove an additional 497,400 cubic yards of debris from the confluence of the San Jacinto River and Lake Houston, known locally as the "mouth-bar". Council Member Martin has never accepted the amount of debris included in the mission modification and continues to fight that number today.

Texas Southern University Is Now Home to NAACP Official Archives
Texas Southern University has been designated as the official depository of records from the Texas NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). A special presentation was held August 17 in the University’s Robert J. Terry Library. The collection consists of minutes, newspaper clippings, legal documents, brochures, Freedom Banquet programs and photographs, along with digitized images from individual Texas NAACP branches.
