GetVokl Offers Live Virtual Matchmaking to Help Singles Get Through the Pandemic
GetVokl, a company that allows livestreaming across multiple platforms at one time, gives people a live virtual place to find a match
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are over 110 million adults who are single in the country. Millions of them found out how difficult dating and finding a match is during the pandemic. With typical hot spots closed where singles may meet, many have been left wondering how to find their match. GetVokl is helping to bridge that gap by offering a content block for virtual interactive dating podcasts, called the Connection Zone. One podcast in particular, Love Rants: Meet Your Match, is growing in popularity due to so many singles being stuck at home. Singles can tune in and have live virtual access to matchmaking, as well as be able to discuss relationships.
Houston's Arts and Culture Community gets over $40,000 Boost from Harvey Arts Recovery Fund Grants
In their second round of funding, the Harvey Arts Recovery Fund (HARF) awarded more than $40,000 in disaster assistance to local artists and arts, heritage and cultural organizations who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. This second round of funding has empowered the Houston arts community to recover from damage to their property and livelihoods. Funds have already been used to counter the negative effects of lost tools, damaged property, disrupted profits and more for artists and arts and cultural nonprofits in the Greater Houston Area/Region.

Changes Include Delaying Start of College, Working for Money, and Switching Career Plans, According to Research by JA and PMIEF
Roughly half (49%) of Class of 2020 graduating seniors say their plans for after high school have changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new survey by Junior Achievement (JA) and the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF). Of those whose plans have changed, more than a third (36%) say they will now work, nearly as many (32%) expect to delay their start date for college, and almost a fifth (16%) changed the career path they wish to pursue. The survey of 1,000 U.S. teens graduating high school in 2020 was conducted by Wakefield Research for JA and PMIEF in support of new educational initiatives by the two organizations.
