In what the school called an “abundance of caution,” 17 people were asked to self-quarantine after coming into direct contact with tbe research staffer, who while traveling abroad may have been exposed to the virus also known as COVID-19.

City Cleans Two Homeless Encampments

A citywide group of employees and environmental contractors once again were out in full force deep cleaning two homeless encampments this week, which have more than doubled since August, when a temporary restraining order was put in place to block the city’s anti-encampment ordinance. Members of the city representing health, general services, police, fire, and the Mayor’s Office first visited the encampments and offered to store all personal possessions, before the cleanups took place.

ACLU Files Court Brief to Address Prolonged Immigration Detention and Lack of Access to Counsel at the Border

The ACLU of Texas and the ACLU National Prison Project filed a legal brief requesting that a federal court order U.S. Customs and Border Protection to stop its practice of detaining migrants in deplorable conditions without access to an attorney.
