Debut of the Dr. Dina Alsowayel and Tony Chase PRH Southern Survey Biennial Prize
The Project Row Houses fifty-fourth Artist Round: Southern Survey Biennial will open Saturday, October 8th, 2022. This inaugural round is guest curated by Valerie Cassel Oliver, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Artists. We will introduce the artists at 3 pm, and they will then speak about their work from the porches of their houses, which will then be open for viewing until 7 pm. Round 54 will remain on view Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5 pm through Sunday, February 12, 2023. One artist will be selected for The Dr. Dina Alsowayel and Tony Chase PRH Southern Survey Biennial Prize for $25,000.

Harris County Attorney Menefee Opens Applications for 2nd High School Summer Legal Academy
The office of Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee is now accepting applications for the 2023 Summer Legal Academy (SLA), a two-week educational readiness program for high school students to learn more about what it takes to become an attorney. The inaugural program launched in the summer of 2022, yielding more than 250 applications. The 2022 class of 21 students came from 21 different high schools in six local school districts (including HISD, Alief ISD, Klein ISD, and more).
Two Houston-Area Students Graduate from Elite U.S. Navy Summer Flight Academy
While some high school students spent the summer doing odd jobs or hanging out with friends, Sophia Ivchenko, a student at Tomball Memorial High School in Cypress, TX, and Reva Jogdand, a student at Stephen F. Austin High School in Richmond, TX, completed an intensive eight-week U.S. Navy Summer Flight Academy aviation program at Delaware State University, achieving their FAA Private Pilot’s licenses upon completion of the training.
