Athletes and entertainers are just that, athletes and entertainers. They’ve spent their productive lives perfecting their skills, in order to be the best at what they do. They’re not as conscious as we think. We expect them to come together and pool their resources together, in order to create opportunities for our community.

Defying negative stereotypes, approximately eighty-percent of this year’s contestants are in graduate or professional school. Three of the contestants are practicing attorneys including the California representative Sydney Colbert, Louisiana representative Yasha Latrice, and the Ohio representative Allison Smith.

The HBCU Executive Leadership Institute (HBCU ELI) at Clark Atlanta University, today announced its first honorary fellow, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. Funded in large part by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), HBCU ELI aims to serve as an incubator for recruiting and developing the next generation of leaders for over 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The first-of-its-kind program boasts a roster that includes 58% women, making it the nation's most diverse cohort of future HBCU leaders. CZI's $1M donation is the largest gift to HBCU ELI to date.
