Community Health Fair at Brightwood College in Houston
Brightwood College campuses in Houston and Friendswood will each host a Community Health Fair at its campus on Wednesday, June 20 and Thursday, June 21 respectively. The events will each be free and open to the public and will feature refreshments, a variety of health-related checks and activities for all ages. Beginning today, Saturday, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, presents Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, featuring work by more than 60 Black artists and exploring what it meant to be a Black artist in America during two revolutionary decades, from the 1960s to the early 1980s. In thematic sections, Soul of a Nation showcases artists from across the United States, with an emphasis on groups in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles; a special focus on artist Betye Saar; and a dedicated section on Houston artists.

City Approves Agreement for Major Flood Mitigation Project
Houston City Council approved funding for a significant flood mitigation project today that will appropriate $15.2 million to the Inwood Detention Basin Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD).
