Dr. Kendall Harris Tapped to Lead TSU Academic Affairs

Texas Southern University is pleased to announce that Kendall T. Harris, Ph.D., P.E., has been selected as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Harris, who will begin employment with TSU on January 1, 2018, comes to the University from Prairie View A&M University where he served as dean of the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering.

This year’s annual Color Box initiative – a donation-based holiday gift drive powered by the nonprofit organization CoolxDad – will take place November 1 to 30, 2022. CoolxDad encourages businesses and individuals throughout the Houston area to donate Christmas presents to underserved kids in the Project Row Houses community. A number of businesses will host drop-off sites for donations. CoolxDad is specifically asking for kids’ toys, electronics, and new clothing (all sizes) with a value of up to $75.00. Color Box will feature a series of events this year, includinga kick-off ceremony, a gift-wrapping event, and a fundraiser, with all funds to go toward future initiatives.

City Schedules the Cleaning of Two Homeless Encampments This Week

A citywide group of employees and environmental contractors will be out in full force deep cleaning two homeless encampments this week, which have more than doubled since August, when a temporary restraining order was put in place to block the city’s anti-encampment ordinance.
