Texas Black Expo Celebrates 15th Anniversary with a Tribute to the Resilience of Houston Residents and Businesses after Hurricane Harvey
The Texas Black Expo Summer Celebration is the largest African-American empowerment trade show and festival in Texas. This year’s theme is Resilience: Weathering the Storms of Business. The 15th annual Texas Expo runs Thursday, June 7th to Sunday, June 10th and is free to attend. Thousands of people are expected at the George R. Brown Convention Center to experience the abundance of activities, giveaways and vendor booths.

Houston Museum of African American Culture hosted a well planned cultural trip to Washington D.C. and Richmond, Virginia. First, travelers experienced a Houston cultural correlation to the U. S. at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art (VMFA) to view "The Dirty South” curated by Valerie Oliver Cassel, senior curator at the VMFA, who hosted a tour of the exhibit for the museum travelers. Houston Ballet announces it will perform during New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival this October. Houston Ballet principal dancers Karina González and Connor Walsh will perform excerpts from Stanton Welch AM’s iconic work Sons de L'âme. Originally premiering in Paris in October 2013 and performed globally since, this will be the first time this work graces the stage in New York. The work will be presented in Fall for Dance’s Program 2 on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 at 8 p.m.

The Houston Texans, ConocoPhillips, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Ashley (formerly Ashley Homestore) are proud to announce the 2022 Inspire Change Grant, which will fund programs, seed projects and create partnerships that support social justice and racial equity efforts in Houston. In this second year of the program, the Texans and their partners will award $400,000 to local nonprofits and educational programs.
