Meet Me At The Park Project Winner Announced
And the winner is... Wagner Greenspace! The half-acre undeveloped space near downtown Houston will receive a $20,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Walt Disney Company to help make improvements and turn it into a community park. The funds will help pay for tree plantings, seeding, benches, bird houses, interpretative signs and trash bins to help transform the space into a neighborhood gathering spot for fun and healthy activities.
Rainbow on ICE returns to Discovery Green
Discovery Green, the 12-acre park in the heart of downtown Houston, hosts the 8th annual Rainbow on ICE on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, from 7 to 10 p.m. This LGBTQ celebration is the ultimate dance party on The ICE powered by Green Mountain Energy® with music by DJ Joe Ross and electrifying entertainment by performers from Drag Houston, who will reenact Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” music video. The event will also include a mini-fashion show featuring costumes by Yahaira Dehill made from recycled materials.

To help provide this support, Northwestern Mutual employees and financial advisors across the country dedicate their time to fundraising and volunteer efforts with childhood cancer-related organizations. This year, the Northwestern Mutual – Houston office has been recognized as one of the company’s Childhood Cancer Impact Award winners for its contributions to the cause, receiving $50,000 to be donated to local nonprofits.
