EPA Awards Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport Over $1M for Clean Shuttle Buses

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded more than $1 million to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, for electric shuttle buses. The funds, administered under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA), help improve air quality by reducing harmful emissions from diesel vehicles.

UH Receives Anonymous $4 Million Gift to Support Creative Writing and Other Liberal Arts Programs

The University of Houston College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) has received a $4 million anonymous gift in support of its Creative Writing Program, among multiple CLASS initiatives. The gift will also fuel research activity in the humanities and social sciences and advance the college’s mission of transforming today’s students into tomorrow’s global leaders, successful entrepreneurs and industry innovators. This gift comes at a period of unprecedented growth, expansion and opportunity for CLASS and is the single largest donation that the college has received.

Astros Need To Readjust As They Head To Colorado

As the Houston Astros prepare to take on the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, they have a lot of issues that have led up to their 1-7 record in the last eight games. In the 7-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday it was the issue with the bats again as the Astros were only able to muster up one hit which came on an error by left fielder Jose Marmolejos. It was also the lack of being able to get out of jams in certain innings.

On Friday, April 2, 2021, Congressman Al Green hosted a press conference in Houston’s Chinatown with local and state elected officials as well as community leaders to condemn anti-Asian violence and discrimination. Congressman Green traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, March 28, 2021, with fellow CAPAC members to visit the sites of the March 16 shootings and to meet with two of the victims’ families. He has also spoken out against the recent physical attack on a 65-year-old Asian woman in Manhattan.
