Even though families gathered on November 28th to celebrate the holiday, fans in Houston gathered on the 1st of December to show their appreciation and thanks to the Houston Texans. The team reciprocated that love by defeating the reigning Super Bowl Champions, New England Patriots 28-22 in a prime-time Sunday night game played on NBC at NRG Stadium in front of a crowd of over 72,000 people in attendance.

Streak Busters: Golden State Halts the Rockets Win Streak at Nine Games

It’s not often that a game that starts at 8:30 pm in the middle of the week will get so much attention, but then again this was no ordinary game. The Golden State Warriors were in town to take on a Houston Rockets team that has seemed to have their number this season. The reigning champs had lost three in a row to the Rockets coming into this game with Houston defeating them in Oracle 118-112 last month without James Harden, who was out with a sore neck and flu-like symptoms.

Rice Athletics to Host 5th Annual Student Leadership Conference Friday

Rice University's Athletics Department and Rice faculty, students and staff will host 600 students from IDEA Public Schools’ charter schools May 12 for the fifth annual Student Leadership Conference from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. The schools are based in the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio and Austin, Texas. The conference will culminate with students attending the Rice-Middle Tennessee State University baseball game in the evening.

Browns Rushing Attack Secures 31-21 Victory Over The Texans

For the first 30 minutes on Sunday, the Houston Texans looked as if they would be able to steal a victory from the Cleveland Browns at their own home stadium. Going to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) had become an annual tradition for Jamila Lloyd. The New Jersey native loves any occasion where she gets to dress up and donning cowboys’ boots with a hat to match was just her thing. Throw in some good Texas BBQ and Lloyd was sold. While she was partying with her boots on, Lloyd learned of the many volunteer opportunities the rodeo offered and just had to apply. “I wanted to join because I love the mission and the overall objective, which is to provide scholarships to deserving students,” she said.
