Groundbreaking for HCDE’s new Academic and Behavior School East building

Harris County Department of Education leaders will gather on Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony to launch the construction phase of the new Academic and Behavior School East building. The new facility will be built on the existing campus’ field, located in southeast Harris County.

City of Houston Street Rehab Initiative Scheduled in Northshore

Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin would like to make Northshore area residents aware Houston Public Works will begin a street rehabilitation project on Monday, November 8th, beginning on Grand Oaks Drive. The scope of work includes rehabbing the concrete streets of Grand Oaks Drive, Joliet Street, Halifax Street, and Fawn Drive. The cost of the project is $720,000 and is funded through the Dedicated Drainage and Street Renewal Fund. The project is a result of Mayor Turner's Street Rehab Initiative that was launched in September 2020.

The YMCA of Greater Houston proudly announces the renaming of the YMCA Equity Innovation Center powered by Reliant (EIC) to honor Quentin Ronald Mease, one of Houston’s most influential African American leaders. In Summer 2021, the YMCA and its executive committee officially voted on the EIC’s new name – The Quentin R. Mease Equity Innovation Center powered by Reliant. The YMCA of Greater Houston, community leaders and executives from Reliant joined together on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA to dedicate the renaming in his honor.
