The Pavilion Ranked No. 3 Outdoor Amphitheater in the World for 2018
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is now ranked third in the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold so far in 2018, according to Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication. The Pavilion’s ticket sales have totaled 467,620 for concerts between November 23, 2017 and November 21, 2018.

Montgomery Sees Record Breaking Tourism Growth with Travel Expenditures Near $1 Billion According to Alabama Tourism Department Report
Travelers spent $972 million and were responsible for 13,817 jobs last year in Montgomery County, according to a report conducted for the Alabama Tourism Department by Montgomery economist Dr. Keivan Deravi. That figure represents a 15.5 percent increase in traveler spending on hotels, restaurants, shopping and transportation from 2017, the largest ever increase in traveler spending of any major Alabama county.

Celebrating its 30th year as the nation's premier academic competition for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) will culminate the year-round program on April 16 when a new champion is crowned. The top quiz bowl teams from 48 HBCUs will travel to Los Angeles for the HCASC National Championship Tournament, April 13-17, on the Honda campus in Torrance, California.

Houston Furniture Bank has been awarded a $1.5 million grant from the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation to provide essential furniture to families affected by the storm. The grant will make it possible for Houston Furniture Bank to provide furniture to 2,000 families to help them recover, expanding the nonprofit’s ongoing efforts to ensure that no child has to eat or sleep on the floor.

Construction Complete on the Greens Bayou Glen Forest and Kuykendahl Stormwater Detention Basins
The Harris County Flood Control District has completed construction of the Glen Forest and Kuykendahl Stormwater Detention Basins, located in Greens Bayou.
