UHD Hosts Northside Festival This Saturday

The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is hosting the second annual Northside Festival, produced by the Greater Northside Management District, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023. To be held in the Naylor Parking Lot of UHD’s College of Sciences and Technology Building, the free festival includes the Northside Art Market curated by Shop Local Market, a salsa tasting contest, performances organized by the Texas Salsa Congress, and live music.

Two years ago, a fire erupted at ITC’s bulk liquid terminal when a tank containing a flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixture caught fire, eventually spreading to additional tanks. The fire created a plume over the entirety of the City of Houston before the fire was extinguished days later. The fire made national news and closed local schools and businesses.
