Approximately 70 babies per year in the Greater Houston area are born with the painful genetic disorder called sickle cell disease, more than any other region of Texas. Of the estimated 100,000 Americans living with the rare condition, approximately 7,000 are Texans.

After it was all said and done, and the votes were tallied up. Three Houston Texans offensive weapons were selected to the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl. Quarterback Deshaun Watson, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, and left tackle Laremy Tunsil will represent the Texans in Orlando, Florida. This is the 16th-consecutive season that Houston has had at least one player selected.
Deadline Extended for Public Input on Changes to Chapter 19
City Council Member Dave Martin appreciates the comments received by many District E residents, and is happy to announce that Mayor Sylvester Turner has changed the deadline for public input on changes to City of Houston Chapter 19 to Monday, March 5 at 5:00 p.m. After the proposed changes were presented to Council during a Joint Transportation, Technology, and Infrastructure/Regulation and Neighborhood Affairs Committee Meeting last Monday, February, 12, Council Member Martin provided strong feedback to Mayor Turner, demanding residents be given more time to participate in the process.

Space Center Boulevard Concrete Panel Replacement Weekend Planned Work
On Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26, the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department will replace deteriorated pavement panels at El Dorado Boulevard and Space Center Boulevard. During the weekend construction, the outside eastbound lane will be closed on Space Center Boulevard.
