Remembering the Life of Andrew Moran
In Derry, Louisiana, on a small tenant farm tended by his parents, Tony and Zarada, Andrew Moran was born in a modest house situated in a cotton field. Andrew spent his early years assisting his parents with the tasks associated with rural life: caring for livestock, hogs and chickens; and picking cotton, digging potatoes and pulling corn. He later drove a light truck on the Magnolia plantation where his father worked as a cowboy. When he wasn’t working on the farm, he attended primary school in Cloutierville, a few miles from his home.

New Data Reveals Neighborhoods Impacted By Urban Heat Effect
On August 7, 2020, the Houston Harris Heat Action Team (H3AT)—a collaboration be- tween Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), the City of Houston, Harris County Public Health (HCPH), and The Nature Conservancy of Texas (TNC) — held a one-day urban heat island mapping effort with the help of 84 community scien- tists, and funding support from Lowe’s and Shell. The effort was part of the 2020 Heat Watch program led by CAPA Strategies and the National Oceanic and At- mospheric Administration (NOAA), and it resulted in a total of 320 square miles of Houston and Harris County being mapped by local residents.

NAACP Warns Black Passengers About Traveling With American Airlines
The NAACP is warning African-American travelers to be careful when they fly with American Airlines. In an advisory late Tuesday, the organization said it has noticed "a pattern of disturbing incidents reported by African-American passengers, specific to American Airlines."
