Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Gulf Coast Authority Board Of Directors
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Lamont Meaux and appointed Kevin Scott to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors for terms set to expire on August 31, 2018. In addition, the Governor has reappointed Nancy Blackwell for a term set to expire on August 31, 2019. The Gulf Coast Authority has the authority to provide water systems and control water pollution and waste disposal within the district. In addition, they conduct studies and research on the control of water pollution and waste disposal within the district.

Houston rappers "Just Brittany" and "Z-RO" made an appearance in court concerning the aggravated assault case she filed against him. "Just Brittany’s,” whose real name is Brittany Bullock, attorney Lisa Bloom wasted no time correcting an earlier report that "Z-RO," whose real name is Joseph McVey, has been cleared of all criminal charges.

Hogg Foundation Awards $11.5 Million in Grants to Address Well-being in the Houston Area
The Hogg Foundation has awarded $11.5 million in grants to 11 organizations for the Communities of Care initiative. The initiative supports collaborative approaches to well-being in the Houston Metropolitan Statistical Area. The grants will strengthen efforts to transform the environments where people live, learn, work, play and pray, bringing a population health approach to support resilience, mental health and well-being for all members of a community, and with a focus on children and youth of color and their families.

Friends of The Periwinkle Foundation presents “Hops & Hot Tamales,” a fundraiser and “friend raiser” to thank current supporters and invite community members to learn more about the nonprofit.
