State Delivers Insurance Check to TSU for Hurricane Repairs

Texas Southern University accepted $500,000 payment from the State Office of Risk Management (SORM) September 12 to begin repairs to campus buildings following Hurricane Harvey in early September. The funds are proceeds from SORM’s Statewide Insurance Program.

Waldemar Park is long overdue for an upgrade and after years of preparation, planning, and designing, those much needed improvements are finally getting underway! I have contributed over $150,000 to this project from District G's Council District Service Funds. The residents deserve a first rate park and I am excited I could help make this park a first rate recreation area.

Harris County Receives Successful Status For Countywide Polling Place Program

Harris County has earned successful status from the Texas Secretary of State’s Office for the Countywide Polling Place Program following the May 4, 2019 Joint Election. Harris County is the largest county in the country to have executed a successful election where voters can cast a ballot at any polling location.

Harris County Now Largest in the Country to Implement Countywide Polling Place Program

Today, Texas Secretary of State David Whitley approved Harris County as one of six Texas counties with a population of more than 100,000 to participate in the Countywide Polling Place Program. With over 2 million registered voters, this makes Harris County the largest county in the country to implement this program. The state program allows eligible counties to establish non-precinct based Election Day Voting Centers.

Construction Completed On Crenshaw Stormwater Detention Basin Benefitting the Arlington Heights Subdivision

The Harris County Flood Control District has completed construction of the second phase of a stormwater detention basin in the Sims Bayou watershed that will provide approximately 94 acre-feet of stormwater detention storage, or the equivalent of 31 million gallons of stormwater.
