Fifth Ward is portrayed as more than just a geographic location; the residents are the most critical parts of the community; when these people move away or travel from their homes, the stories and experiences always keep the best interests of the physical place alive. Francis used colored pencils, decorative papers, foil, and found objects to collage his portraits.

Deadline Extended for Public Input on Changes to Chapter 19

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston announces that the team from Houston Texans Teen Club was named the winner of the Building Industry Leaders (BIL) Urban Plan competition, a program of the Urban Land Institute and funded by a grant from retail electricity provider Reliant. Each of the five team members who created the winning case study received a $1,000 scholarship toward future education. Other teams participating in the competition included the Morefield Club, Galveston Island Teen Club and the Allen Parkway Club participated.

Rookie detectorist finds huge Iron Age gold hoard in Denmark

A huge hoard of Iron Age gold artifacts has been uncovered by an amateur metal detectorist in Denmark. The "enormous" find consists of almost one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of gold buried 1,500 years ago, according to a press release from the Vejlemuseerne museum, which will exhibit the hoard.
