Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) invites everyone to celebrate Juneteenth with FREE admission, courtesy of H-E-B, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Located at 5401 Caroline Street, HMH will extend its hours for this special day, welcoming visitors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Don't miss the chance to explore The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection along with the Museum’s permanent galleries at no cost.

On view through June 23, 2024, in HMH’s Josef and Edith Mincberg Gallery, The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection, presented by Shell USA, highlights the achievements and contributions of Black Americans from 1595 to the present day. This remarkable collection, considered one of the most comprehensive surveys of African American history and culture outside the Smithsonian Institution, features over 100 treasured items amassed by Shirley and Bernard Kinsey during their five decades of marriage. The exhibition includes masterful paintings, sculptures, photographs, rare books, letters, manuscripts, and more, offering a well-rounded perspective on the African American experience and new insights into the nation’s history and culture.

Plan Your Visit HMH’s Lester and Sue Smith Campus is located at 5401 Caroline Street in Houston’s historic museum district. Regular museum hours are:

  • Closed on Mondays, except for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.
  • Open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission Fees:

  • Adults: $22
  • Seniors (ages 65+) and AARP members: $16
  • Free for active duty military and their families from Armed Forces Day (May 18) through Labor Day (September 2, 2024).
  • Always free for children and students through age 18 and college students with valid student ID.
  • Free for all visitors on Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Bagel Shop @ The Museum is open:

  • Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
