The Harris Health System is stepping boldly into a new era of healthcare leadership, streamlining its executive structure to better serve Houston’s dynamic and diverse population. In a historic move, the organization has introduced three new CEO positions, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence, community engagement, and patient-centered care.
Dr. Glorimar Medina, a distinguished leader with an extensive track record of success at Harris Health, has been appointed CEO of Hospital Campuses, a newly created role overseeing both Ben Taub Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. With a wealth of experience, including her tenure as executive vice president and administrator at Ben Taub, Medina embodies the innovation and strategic vision necessary to lead Harris Health’s flagship institutions into the future.
"During her Harris Health career, Glorimar has excelled in progressive leadership roles," says Louis Smith, Chief Operations Officer of Harris Health. “As the first leader to assume responsibilities for both hospital campuses, I’m excited about the opportunity and experience she brings to the position.”
Expanding Leadership to Drive Patient-Centered Care
In addition to Medina’s historic appointment, Harris Health has elevated two more trailblazing leaders:
Dr. Jennifer Small has been named CEO of Ambulatory Care Services (ACS). With over 20 years of service, she has played an integral role in shaping Harris Health’s primary and specialty care networks. Her new position reflects an expanded scope of leadership, ensuring that the system’s strategic goals align seamlessly with its ambulatory care initiatives.
Kiki Teal, a veteran in the correctional health space, now takes the reins as CEO of Correctional Health. In her expanded role, Teal will continue to oversee operations at the Harris County Jail while spearheading new strategic initiatives in collaboration with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
"Kiki has been with Harris Health since our first engagement with Harris County in managing medical services at the jail," Louis Smith remarks. "Her extensive clinical and operational expertise makes her the perfect leader to guide Correctional Health into its next phase.”
A Bold Vision for the Future of Harris Health
These leadership appointments signal a new chapter for Harris Health—one of growth, innovation, and a heightened focus on community well-being. By mirroring leadership models of top-tier health systems in the Texas Medical Center and across the U.S., Harris Health is positioning itself at the forefront of accessible and equitable healthcare.
This strategic restructuring is not just a shift in leadership; it’s a reaffirmation of Harris Health’s commitment to delivering high-quality medical services to all residents, regardless of background or circumstance.
With Dr. Medina, Dr. Small, and Kiki Teal at the helm, Harris Health is poised to redefine the future of healthcare in Houston, setting new standards of excellence while maintaining its deep-rooted mission of compassionate care.
