Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Real Estate Research Advisory Committee
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Troy Alley, Jr., Russell Cain, and JJ Clemence to the Real Estate Research Advisory Committee for terms set to expire on January 31, 2023. The committee reviews and approves proposals submitted to the board of directors of the Texas A&M University System relating to staffing and general policies of the Real Estate Center. The committee decides the priority ranking of research studies the center conducts.

On September 21, 2017, I hosted the third annual 2nd Chance Job Fair, where we had over 4,000 participants and over 60 vendors post Hurricane Harvey. There were many people who were hired on the spot and those who are scheduled for interviews. I would like to thank the many volunteers who came out and our special guest, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Pastor Suzette Caldwell, Mr. Charles Wolf of Arcadis, our 2nd Chance Speaker Mr. Thomas Jackson, and Houston Legend Scarface. I am truly thankful for being able to assist those in need of a second chance.

Union Pacific to Provide Kashmere Gardens Cleanup Plan By Summer
The company that owns a contaminated Kashmere Gardens railyard will submit a cleanup plan to the city this summer, after higher rates of cancer were found in the community last year, officials announced Monday. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is asking for the cleanup plan along with a revised permit application from Union Pacific, which owns the yard formerly known as the Houston Woods Preserving Works site, by Aug. 31.
