Rice University and Houston Methodist will unveil the Houston Methodist-Rice University Center for Human Performance in an Oct. 10 kickoff event featuring demonstrations of the center’s state-of-the-art capabilities. Located in Rice’s Tudor Fieldhouse, the center will allow physicians, academic researchers and university students to work side by side with student athletes, trainers and coaches to advance research, clinical care initiatives and educational activities in exercise physiology, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

The court issued the decision in Students for Fair Admission, Inc. v. Texas Southern University (TSU) scholars will help in the fight against cancer via a recently announced $5.1 million academic research grant from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). The five-year grant is a Core Facility Support award, which makes cutting-edge technology available for capital investment and technical expertise. It is TSU’s first-ever CPRIT award, and it is one of the largest publicly-funded grants the university has received in its 90-year history.

Houston Ballet announces its cancellation of the rest of its 2019-2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Performances effected include the rescheduled dates for Forged in Houston (May 21-31), Romeo & Juliet (June 4-14) and From Houston to the World, which was in the works to be rescheduled later in the season.
