Depository & Recycling Centers’ Change Hours Of Operations In Beginning Of Daylight Savings Time

Effective Tuesday, March 14, 2023, the City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department Neighborhood Depositories hours of operations will change at its six (6) Neighborhood Depositories & Recycling Centers to adjust with Daylight Savings Time. The locations listed below will be open Tuesday through Sunday, except city-approved holidays; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Citizens are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing to allow adequate time to unload.

Comcast RISE Investment Fund

Mayor Slyvester Turner and the Comcast Corporation announced the Comcast RISE Investment Fund, which will provide $5 million dollars of grants to hundreds of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned, small businesses in five cities nationwide, including $1 million in Houston. The Investment Fund is the latest extension of Comcast RISE (Representation, Investment, Strength, and Empowerment), the multi-faceted initiative launched in 2020.

“PRIDE at the MFAH: A Rainbow of Artists” In honor of Pride Month, Houston choreographer Harrison Guy, director of Urban Souls Dance Company, created a dance tracing his journey to self-acceptance as a Black, gay man. “These Feet Were Made for Walkin’” was inspired by works of contemporary art in the Kinder Building at the MFAH. Cameron Edwards performs the piece on-site to a score by Ricky Lethridge.
