League of Women Voters of Texas Website Review Reveals 30% of Texas Counties Provide Very Good to Outstanding Voter Information

The League of Women Voters of Texas conducted its eighth review of all 254 Texas county election websites in February 2022 in preparation for the March 2022 Primary Election. Based on a set of criteria regarding the presence and quality of election information, the League awards points to each county’s website. The League commends the 56 county election websites that we rated as "outstanding" and the 36 websites that we rated as "very good". The League offers our congratulations to those counties and celebrates all the counties, large and small, that seek to meet the needs of their voters.

A few months back, I wrote a column focused on my misgivings about the proposed merger of two huge railroads – Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern. As I wrote at the time, I feared that the merger would add to the environmental and health burdens already facing Black communities and other communities of color by introducing more rail traffic and more carbon emissions while also negatively impacting things like emergency response and commute times.

The Coastal Prairie Conservancy (CPC) along with its partner organizations announced this week a $25 million pledge from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through its Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).
