Santa Claus will be available for visits and pictures on Fridays from 5 – 7 p.m., Saturdays from 2 – 7 p.m. and Sundays from 2 – 6 p.m. On Christmas Day, Boardwalk rides, games and retail stores will be open from 12 – 9 p.m. Additionally, the New Year’s Eve Family Celebration will ring in 2019 on Tuesday, December 31.

Meet Me At The Park Project Winner Announced
And the winner is... Wagner Greenspace! The half-acre undeveloped space near downtown Houston will receive a $20,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Walt Disney Company to help make improvements and turn it into a community park. City Schedules the Cleaning of Two Homeless Encampments This Week
A citywide group of employees and environmental contractors will be out in full force deep cleaning two homeless encampments this week, which have more than doubled since August, when a temporary restraining order was put in place to block the city’s anti-encampment ordinance. Members of the city representing health, general services, police, fire, and the Mayor’s Office will first visit the encampments and offer to store all personal possessions, before the cleanup takes place.

HHSC Encourages Screenings During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Aware- ness Month and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is encouraging women to get screened regularly for the disease. “Breast cancer screenings can save a woman’s life and mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat,” said Rob Ries, HHS deputy executive commissioner for Family Health Services. “As we bring awareness to this issue, we’re urging women to make time for their health and to get screened regularly.”
