New COVID Variant Found in Houston Resident, Fourth Such Case in U.S.

THE VARIANT FIRST EMERGED TWO WEEKS AGO AND HAS SINCE BEEN DETECTED IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES, INCLUDING DENMARK, ISRAEL AND THE UNITED STATES.

A Houston resident has become the fourth person in the country to test positive for the new BA 286 COVID-19 variant. However, experts say, that while the new variant has gotten a lot of attention, it's unlikely it will have more impact than other current COVID-19 variants.

NAACP Set to Launch Youth Initiative on Black Economic Power in Houston

In efforts to engage Black youth in programming that promotes financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and innovation, The NAACP is launching a 3-day Youth Council Idea Lab in three cities: Aurora, IL; Jacksonville, FL; and Houston, TX. The purpose of this Idea Lab is to help our young members begin to think critically about moving beyond consumerism and producing goods/services that impact their communities. At the end of this 3-day program, participants will create, innovate, and wield their Black Economic Power!
