After waiting for over an hour due to inclement weather, Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern were finally able to open their 2022 season in the annual Labor Day Classic. The Panthers improved their record to 8-0 against the Tigers in their last eight matchups with a 40-23 win, as Prairie View has not lost to Texas Southern since August 31, 2014.
Week 2 Of Texans Training Camp Begins With Some Strong Questions That Need To Be Answered.
Let me preface my statement by saying, “Yes. I do know he is a rookie?” I understand the Texans selected quarterback Davis Mills with their first pick in round 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft. What did I expect from a rookie in his first training camp of his NFL career? More.
All-Star outfielder George Springer listed day-to-day with wrist strain
The Astros suffered a minor setback in Thursday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. All-Star center fielder George Springer had to leave the game after he suffered a right wrist strain in the bottom of the fifth inning. Springer made a brilliant diving catch to hinder Arizona’s Andy Young from getting a hit.
Rockets Head Into All-Star Break With a Positive Mindset for the Future
When starting a new job, there is always a 90-day probation period that let employers evaluate employees and see if they are the right fit for the job. They look at everything from attendance to the ability to get along with co-workers. Not one thing is left out when an employer is determining permanent employment.
Passion: Texans Hold Joint Practices As They Prepare for Their Second Preseason Game
I remember playing basketball in a league for an older gentleman. No, it was not a senior league for those who like to make fun of my age. As we are warming up, one of my teammates gets into it with a player from the other team. It got so heated that the teams had to be separated and my teammate was ejected before the game even started. That one gesture had us so fired up that we ended up blowing the other team out. His passion drove us to step our game up another level.
The Finer Things
Astros hot start has fans reminiscing about the 2017 World Series run.
One thing I heard growing up from my other relatives, family, and friends was that I was spoiled. Being the first-born child actually comes with some perks, but I digress. Houstonians over the last three years must feel like spoiled kids when it comes to the Astros because they have become accustomed to the team being in first place come this time of the year.
Strong Case
Harden Pours In a Season High 57 Points Against the Grizzlies
The 2018-19 NBA season has started off with a bang, but no louder sound can be heard than that of starting shooting guard for the Houston Rockets, James Harden. Yes, I know that there has been plenty of stories and news articles about the phenomenal season he is having, yet it is nothing like witnessing it firsthand. As I sat on press row at the Toyota Center on Monday night when the Rockets defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 112-94, I was in amazement of what I was seeing.
Rockets' Jalen Green is Ready to Shed the "Rookie" Label
The media huddled around the Houston Rockets practice facility microphone, still laughing about rookie Alperen Sengun’s favorite English phrase he learned during his first year in the United States. Another young man walks in with a massive smile on his face and greets everyone in his presence.
Texans Select Derek Stingley Jr. Third Overall In 2022 NFL Draft
"I would say there was definitely a consensus," said Nick Caserio about selecting Stingley with the third overall pick. "I would say organizationally, coaching staff, scouting staff, we put as much time and effort into Derek probably as any player."
Josh Christopher takes advantage of first NBA career start
"D.J. Augustin had told me before they wrote it on the board," Christopher said jokingly. "I was like, 'Oh, OK.' I didn't have my contacts in, so I was like, 'Does it say J.C.?' It did so a little excitement but more ready to go, like 'Boom, we're here, let's go win a game.'"
Legendary Astros Manager Dusty Baker Retires After Four Remarkable Years
In January 2020, when Houston Astros owner Jim Crane made the tough call to part ways with manager A.J. Hinch due to the team's involvement in the 2017 sign-stealing scandal, he needed a leader who could steer the ship through turbulent waters. That leader was none other than baseball legend Dusty Baker.
All In A Day’s Work: Life of An NFL Agent On Draft Day
The NFL recently held its annual job fair. Like most hiring processes, applicants presented their best self, polished up their resume, bragged on their skill set, and prayed for the best. Some people got hired because they were skilled and interviewed well, while others didn’t get the job for various reasons.

Fathers express how important it is being in their kids’ lives on a consistent basis
Growing up I loved playing basketball and football. On any given day you could find my brothers and I playing any one of those sports with the neighborhood kids. As we got older and started playing organized sports we noticed that we were missing something that other kids had on a consistent basis. No, it was not any special equipment they possessed that gave them the edge.
Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas Confirms Report Of A Possible Return Of Guard John Wall
“Rafael (Stone) and John (Wall) spoke and as far as I know John is wanting to come back and there will be discussions around that,” said coach Silas. “We will see. I just found out this afternoon. As far as I know, they have spoken, and we will see what will happen.”
Rockets Open Training Camp With Intensity
"Don’t leave until I say so,” a loud voice bellowed out from the other side of the court. All that could be heard from that point on were individuals trying to catch their breath as they prepared to make the quick turnaround to complete the sprint drills.
Bad Night in San Diego
Astros have a rough night in San Diego losing 13-2
When Astros manager Dusty Baker said after Friday’s one-run loss to the San Diego Padres that broke their eight-game winning streak, “We need to go out tomorrow and start another streak.” I don’t think this is what he was talking about. San Diego (17-12) used an explosive second inning to take game two of the series from the Astros (15-12) defeating them 13-2.
Well Deserved: Why Hopkins And Not OBJ Should Be the Highest Paid WR
On September 1, 2017, the Houston Texans made their star WR DeAndre Hopkins the highest paid player at his position (5 yrs./$81 million - $49 million guaranteed). That exceeds the contract extension WR Antonio Brown received ($68 million/$19 million guaranteed) this offseason from the Pittsburg Steelers. Hopkins has now set the bar for others at his position to seek similar deals.

Texans Make DT Ross Blacklock Their First Selection In The 2020 NFL Draft
The Houston Texans filled a desperate need on Friday by selecting defensive lineman Ross Blacklock out of TCU with their 40th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Big 12 Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year for the Horned Frogs had a very productive 2019 season where he earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors while controlling the defensive side of the ball for TCU.
Texans Training Camp Day 14
Texans hold joint practice with the Detroit Lions
The Houston Texans resumed training camp today, with a joint practice with the Detroit Lions who is in town early for their preseason matchup with the Texans on Saturday at NRG Stadium. With the fans looking on, the competition got a little heated at times with trash talking by both teams being heard by fans, but it was all in fun. Here are a couple of things I noticed from today’s practice.
Calm Down Texans Fans. There Will Be Enough Time To Complain Later.
“So, what we did a month ago is we had our team leaders earlier in the offseason came to an agreement that it was more important for us to make sure that we had as many people as we needed to be here possible to be able to learn what we’re doing and with that being said, that we would forgo the minicamp because we felt like that was more important.
