It’s an award that will give the department the ability to protect firefighters and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. When these vehicles are started, the exhaust infiltrates the living and sleeping areas of the fire stations that are staffed around the clock.

New Harris County Program Helps Struggling Families With Financial Instability
Harris County officials recently introduced a groundbreaking pilot program called "Uplift Harris" aimed at assisting low-income residents facing financial instability. This initiative, funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act, will provide eligible individuals with a monthly stipend of $500 for up to 18 months. With an allocated budget of $20.5 million, the program will be overseen by the Harris County Public Health Department.
