The Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans will hold its largest fundraising event in support of its year-round programs and services on Saturday, October 14th.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, AAMA – the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans – will celebrate its annual Illumine Gala at The Ballroom at Bayou Place from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The Illumine Gala is AAMA’s largest fundraising event of the year, and supports the legacy nonprofit organization’s year-round programs and services, which include early child care services, two public charter schools in Houston, prevention and counseling services, adult and opportunity youth learning programs, community engagement services, and much more, across the Lone Star State. Each year, more than 10,000 individuals across the state are served by AAMA.

Semi-trucks Filled with 1.2 Million Packages of Girl Scout Cookies Roll into Houston February 10

It’s the day Girl Scout cookie lovers have been waiting for. Girl Scout Cookies are rolling into southeast Texas beginning Saturday, February 10. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sam Houston Race Park, hundreds of Girl Scout volunteers will be unloading more than 1.2 million packages of Girl Scout Cookies from dozens of semi-trucks that will line the event park. The cookies will be delivered to customers in the following days by Girl Scouts who took pre-orders in January.

The Houston Independent School District is aware of an error regarding the name of a District VII Board of Education candidate on the upcoming November 2, 2021, election ballot. Mr. Lee Macerlaen Walker's application was filed in the Office of Board Services on Monday, August 16, 2021, and he was notified of its acceptance via certified letter on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Mr. Walker's legal name is Lee Walker, but he asked to be identified as Mac Walker on the ballot.
