HISD to stay closed for remainder of 2019-2020 school year
In accordance with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s announcement today for all Texas schools, the Houston Independent School District will stay closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
HISD middle schools welcome next-generation emerging tech labs from Verizon
Houston ISD is proud to announce the launch of Verizon Innovative Learning Labs at Holland, Edison and Patrick Henry Middle Schools, made possible by Verizon, through a partnership with Heart of America and the J. Houston Ballet Joins New York City Center's 2021 Fall for Dance Festival Lineup
Houston Ballet announces it will perform during New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival this October. Houston Ballet principal dancers Karina González and Connor Walsh will perform excerpts from Stanton Welch AM’s iconic work Sons de L'âme. Originally premiering in Paris in October 2013 and performed globally since, this will be the first time this work graces the stage in New York. The work will be presented in Fall for Dance’s Program 2 on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 at 8 p.m.

Going Camping: Houston Texans Open 2017 Training Camp in West Virginia
The Houston Texans started training camp in unfamiliar territory. The franchise decided to hold the majority of their 2017 camp at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and it will be the first time in franchise history (15 years) that training camp will be held outside the city of Houston. There will be a total of fifteen training camp practice sessions that the residents of White Sulphur Springs can attend to see the reigning 2016 AFC South Champions. The Aug. 15 – 16 sessions will be joint practices with the Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots.
Comcast RISE to Award $1 Million in Grants to BIPOC-Owned, Small Businesses in Houston
Mayor Sylvester Turner, Comcast executives, and several community leaders gathered at City Hall last month to announce a new phase of the Comcast RISE program launching in Houston – the Comcast RISE Investment Fund. The Comcast RISE Investment Fund, will award $5 million dollars of grants to hundreds of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned, small businesses in five cities nationwide, including $1 million in Houston.
