In the interest of public health, the City of Houston and the Houston Health Department have ordered the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ to close. The Rodeo will respectfully and dutifully comply with the City’s order.

Panelists debated current state and federal policies that affect the Houston Latino community, including SB4, also known as the “sanctuary cities” bill, and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

Houston Chronicle reports Houston ISD and a majority of Houston-area districts are bucking national trends when it comes to the hiring of African-American teachers. About 36.2 percent of teachers in Houston ISD are black, compared with about 7 percent nationwide and 10 percent in Texas.
