The City of Houston is gearing up to add another thirty-eight artworks to street-side traffic signal control cabinets throughout Houston and is encouraging artists to submit qualifications for the opportunity to create a mural. When “Luke Cage” exec producer Cheo Hodari Coker declared at his show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel last year, “The world is ready for a bulletproof black man,” the crowd erupted in cheers. So did the internet. “Right before I said it, I knew what I was feeling,” Coker later told Variety. “I had said variations of it during the day. ‘Hidden Figures’ Tops ‘Rogue One,’ With $22.8M #1 Debut at Box Office
With the always present caveat that “rank doesn’t matter,” it turns out that Hidden Figures was the top movie of the weekend, not Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Local Houston teen to compete for $100,000 in Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway
Dr Pepper is pleased to announce the 20 finalists who will participate in the 11th annual Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway during the upcoming College Football Conference Championship weekend. Finalists will take the field during five marquee games and attempt to throw the most number of footballs into an oversized Dr Pepper can in 30 seconds. The winning contestant receives $100,000 in tuition, and the runner-up receives $25,000 in tuition. In total, Dr Pepper will award $1 million in tuition through this year’s program.
