Celebrate World Series Champs Ride METRO for Free

Several Routes Detoured Friday for Parade

METRO is providing free rides Friday, Nov. 3 for all services to help ease traffic congestion in downtown Houston during the Houston Astros World Series Championship Parade. Fans are encouraged to use the buses and METRORail. There will be parking available along the rail corridor, Minute Maid Park Lot C and the NRG Stadium Orange Lot. Leslie Alexander Puts Houston Rockets Franchise On the Market

“It’s been my great joy and honor to own the Houston Rockets for the past 24 years.” These were the words spoken by current Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander in a prepared statement as he announced his plans to sell the franchise. Alexander purchased the team in July 1993 for $85 million (currently valued at $1.65 billion) from Charlie Thomas. The sale of the team came right after the Rockets were coming off a grueling seven game series against the Seattle Supersonics and it came at a time when Houston was in desperate need of an identity.

#CAP Dow Promise Virtual Summit Gives Students a Head Start On College Admissions

Dow knows how to keeps its promises. In 2000, they took their original promise and expanded it to make a broaden stance of their support to the community with an initiative called The Dow Promise Program. The annual competitive grant program allows organizations to obtain a grant up to $10,000 for use for a sustainable project with longevity in the community. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter was a proud recipient of a $5,000 grant that they used to host the #CAP Dow Promise Virtual Summit.

Texas State Historical Marker Honors the Astrodome

The Harris County Historical Commission will dedicate a new Texas State Historical Marker for the Astrodome this Tuesday afternoon, May 29 at 3:00 PM. The event will be held on the west side of the Astrodome at NRG Park. Parking should be accessed through Gate 9 at Westridge and Kirby. The lot will open at 2:00 PM that afternoon.
