Heating Up Texans Training Camp: Day 13

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien gave his players a much-needed break from the heat today as they practiced inside the bubble for the first time in over a week. Although the temperature wasn’t as hot on the inside, the competition and drills were. Here are a few of my observations from Texans training camp day 13.

Webster defines the word consistency as, steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc. It means that an action or behavior is repeated over and over again usually ending in the same result. Texans undrafted rookie cornerback Derrick Baity Jr. should have that word tattooed on his body somewhere as he is the walking example of the word. And if you know Derrick, then you know he loves tattoos.

Being Grateful and Thankful for Others

Life without others in it is pretty pointless. The difficult nature of it requires others to bring stability, joy, and balance. People are the ones who offer you love, support, and share in your joys and pain. Others make life less strenuous. Notice I said gratitude and not thankfulness. Though we tend to use grateful and thankful interchangeable they are not the same.

Suburban Sugar Land Women (SSLW) & Phenomenal Partners award EIGHT continuing and first-time scholarships. Scholarships are available annually to high school graduates in Fort Bend County - Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD, Lamar CISD, Needville ISD, and Stafford MSD. Online application and bursar’s form are accepted annually June 01 – 30,11:59pm. Scholarship’s criteria - complete and accurate: application; professional head – shoulder photo; unofficial transcript, documentation that an official transcript has been requested, and receipt of an official transcript detailing full time enrollment – minimum of 12 credits; essay details why applicant should receive scholarship, current community service with responsibilities and leadership’ roles, and specific in person and virtual SSLW service participation; two letters of reference – one from high school or university staff and one from community service organization on letter head, dated, specific service’s details with sender’s name, signature, title, telephone, and email; and documentation of enrollment such as class schedule, housing assignment. Recipients must attend an annual, in person, College Send Off in July. Checks are mailed to the universities by July 31. Follow up in August – September.

Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee together with a coalition of states, filed an amicus brief in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals supporting the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Good Neighbor Plan.” The EPA’s “Good Neighbor Plan” is a rule that expands on an existing multistate framework for limiting interstate ozone pollution under the Clean Air Act. This plan includes requirements for twenty-three states to reduce their smog-forming emissions that travel into fourteen downwind states.
