School Districts Extends District-Wide Closures Through, April 10, 2020

Third Ward Consortium Receives Grant to install new synthetic sports turf surfaces at Jack Yates High School Athletic Field

A consortium of organizations, has received a field valued at $1,250,000 donated by the Houston Texans, Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation-NRG Park, and Hellas Construction, Inc., $250,000 from the NFL Grassroots Foundation Grant, and a $200,000 NFL Foundation Matching Grant through the Houston Texans to install a new synthetic sports turf surface at Jack Yates High School Athletic Field. Rodney Ellis, Harris County Commissioner Precinct One, was instrumental in the designation of Yates as the recipient of the field.

Hurricane Harvey Hits Houston

August 27, 2017, was one of those nights that I didn’t sleep. The threat of Hurricane Harvey looming and the fact that no one could reach my dad kept me up. I stayed up all night watching the news (KTRK Ch.13) and checking for updates on the water levels of the Hunting Bayou. Houston is bayou city and the majority of my family lives by Hunting Bayou. Running less than a block from my family’s homes also known as the Compound since within the area my father, mother, two sisters, brother-in-law, aunt, cousin and some renters all live. I even used to live in one of the houses there as well.

The 142nd NRA Annual Convention, Meetings and Exhibits was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in the heart of downtown Houston, TX, May 3-5, 2013! With over 550 exhibitors covering over 400,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, educational seminars, celebrities, and fun filled special events, there was something for everyone! Dawn Paul spent the day exploring the products from every major firearm company in the country, checked out the hunt of a lifetime in the exclusive outfitter section, and viewed priceless collections of firearms in the gun collector area. Houston Style also viewed a few knives, wildlife art, shooting accessories, hunting gear, ATV's, and much more! Check it out here!
