The Texas Coalition of Black Democrats today joined eighteen elected state Democratic officials from Harris County and the Houston Branch of the N.A.A.C.P. in requesting that Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg and County Attorney Vince Ryan investigate the presence of a phantom candidate in the March 3rd Democratic Primary for House District 142, including empaneling a grand jury to do so, if needed.

Governor Abbott Names Chair And Appoints Four To Parks And Wildlife Commission
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed James Abell, Jeff Hildebrand, and Bobby Patton to the Parks and Wildlife Commission for terms set to expire on February 1, 2025. Additionally, the Governor reappointed Anna Benavides Galo for a term set to expire on February 1, 2021, and named Reed Morian chair of the commission.

HISD to receive $300,000 in support of its new recycling program
Houston Independent School District will be presented with checks totaling $300,000 in funding from business leaders to expand access to recycling within the district. ExxonMobil, Lyondell Basell and Tricon Energy have partnered with HISD to support development of the program, which is scheduled to begin in April. An energetic recycling mascot will be on hand to get students excited about recycling and improving the quality of the community they live in.
