City Council Member Dave Martin is requesting residents participate in providing public input on the approved changes to Chapter 19, and the proposed changes to Design Standards, Chapters 9 and 13, of the City's Code of Ordinances. The City of Houston is looking for ways to reduce the risk of flood loss for future development and redevelopment which requires revisions to Chapters 9, 13, and 19. Memorial Park Opens 100-Acre Clay Family Eastern Glades, First Significant Project of Memorial Park Master Plan

Previously inaccessible and ecologically distressed parkland transformed into dramatic passive recreation areas, including 5.5-acre lake and wetlands

Memorial Park Conservancy and project partners at Houston Parks and Recreation Department, the Kinder Foundation and the Uptown Development Authority are unveiling the Clay Family Eastern Glades, the first major project of the 2015 Memorial Park Master Plan and the associated Ten-Year Plan announced in 2018. Located north of Memorial Drive between Memorial Park Golf Course and Crestwood Drive, the transformed 100-acre area features picnic areas, native wetlands, savanna, pine-hardwood forest, wide open green spaces, and miles of accessible trails for Houstonians to enjoy. Eastern Glades will be open to the public this weekend and can be easily accessed from a parking lot with bike racks along the Seymour Lieberman Exer-Trail and a pedestrian plaza at the intersection of Crestwood Drive and Blossom Street, as well as by vehicle or public transport at the intersection of Memorial Drive and East Memorial Loop Road.

Evolve Houston Launches The EMobility Microgrant Initiative

Evolve Houston announced an all-new Equity Program with the launch of the eMobility Microgrant Initiative funded by Evolve Corporate Catalysts, General Motors and bp. This initiative will facilitate a peer-review process to award microgrants to local electromobility “eMobility” projects that address community mobility needs in the Greater Houston area. Prairie View A&M University answers the call to find a cure for a real-world problem: food insecurity. World Food Day at PVAMU will feature Dr. Deland J. Myers Sr. Endowed Professor of Food Systems at PV. Dr. Myers was awarded a 5.3 million dollar grant from the Texas A&M Chancellors Research Initiative to found the Integrated Food Security Research Center (IFSRC) for the purpose of establishing a center with a focused research, academic, and outreach effort to study the causes of food insecurity, the impacts of this issue, and finding ways to alleviate food insecurity in communities.
